General Municipality Information

In most municipalities, a work permit must be filed with either the Building Department and/or the Fire Department prior to the commencement of any tank work. On the scheduled work date, soil samples and inspections may also be required. Upon final completion of the work, it is required that all permits are closed out in writing along with supporting documentation (i.e. all manifests and soil analytic results).

Example: For the removal of a 550-Gallon UST in the Village of Tuckahoe.

A required permit would need to be obtained from:
Village of Tuckahoe Building Department

Required inspections would need to be obtained from:
Village of Tuckahoe
Eastchester Fire Department along with a required soil sample.

Example: For the removal of a 1,500-Gallon UST in the City of Yonkers that has failed a tank test.

A required permit would need to be obtained from:
City of Yonkers Building Department
City of Yonkers Fire Department
Westchester County Health Department

Required inspections would need to be obtained from:
City of Yonkers Building Department
City of Yonkers Fire Department
Westchester County Health Department along with required soil samples.

Required Closure Paperwork
In this instance, a PBS (Petroleum Bulk Storage) Closure Report would be required. A copy would be sent to:

Westchester County Health Department
New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation
